In a season where everything about the Chiefs offense has felt just a little off, it only stands to reason that a game in which the team dominated featured a few moments where things weren’t quite right on that side of the ball.

Kansas City faces off with the Chargers tonight for the division lead, and time is short, so let’s get right to it. You know what we do here every week (well, except when I’m on vacation or Week 8 for some reason); We look at every single dropbback by Patrick Mahomes and chart them to determine how he played outside the stats sheet and outside the influence of everyone else.

Doing so is how we’re able to separate Mahomes’ play from drops, poor blocking, or whatever else might throw off even the most in-depth statistical analysis. And the Raiders game was an interesting one to chart, because it featured Mahomes playing a nearly flawless game in one category while taking a bit of a step back in another. It was also much more a return to “normal” for him in terms of certain areas we’ve grown accustomed to him manipulating defenses that has been a little more absent this year.

If you are unfamiliar with how I chart and write about quarterback play, the Week 1 review explains the methodology and reasoning, as well as the definitions used. The goal, as ever, is to separate the QB play from what is around the QB to get a better gauge on how he did on his own (and get a real idea as to what did and didn’t go well against an opponent). There’s no Week 8 film review due to time constraints, but one of these days I’ll get the numbers here for purposes of all the information being available. And Week 13, well, I was on vacation you animals!

Let’s look at the numbers, then talk about Mahomes cooking the Raiders for the second time in a month.
