Stop me if you’ve heard this one before (once, twice, or three times in the last week even); The Chiefs have issues at wide receiver.

Now stop me if you’ve heard this one before; Rookie wide receiver Rashee Rice is a big part of the solution, if they’ll only use him to his strengths.

This afternoon against the Raiders, the Chiefs finally broke out of their offensive funk (after a truly horrific start) in a big way. And while the usual suspects (Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and Isiah Pacheco) were a big part of the equation, if the last few months have taught us anything it’s that sustained success on offense requires more from the wide receiver room than what the Chiefs have been getting.

And after multiple weeks of Chiefs fans begging Andy Reid to get Rice more involved in the offense, it finally happened. And it worked in a big way.

This should not be a one-off. And it doesn’t need to be. Because against Vegas, Rice demonstrated the skillset to be used in a variety of ways that should allow the Chiefs to keep him on the field the vast majority of the snaps, and (more importantly) involve him in the offense in a much more real way.

Let’s talk about Rice’s big day and how he showed a varied enough skillset to be “the guy” in the Chiefs WR room moving forward, even as he refines his overall game.
