I've been taking advantage of the free NFL Game Pass. Watched a couple games from early 2018. Kareem Hunt made the offense a total juggernaut. CLDW had some great games, but you said it well, he's not consistent. Hunt was always getting those hidden yards. I think CEH could take the Chiefs back to that early 2018 level.
I agree. With Hunt the Chiefs were 7 points a game better. CEH looks like he might fit our offense even better than Hunt. I think we could average 40 points a game (if we needed to).
I think they'll be able to cruise more with the defense being what it (hopefully) is now as opposed to what it was in 2018. Otherwise I could absolutely see it (health permitting).
I ultimately want wins, but that little bit of spite unwashed by the Super Bowl CHAMPIONSHIP wants to set the NFL record for points in a season (overcoming the donks and their rent-a-quarterback from 2013)
The larger issue in 2019 was that Mahomes was hurt much of the year. Once he recovered, the offense by and large regained the form it had in 2018, though they geared it back a notch in terms of total output due to the defense not being a complete tire fire.
That said, the issue of consistency regardless of opponent can be helped with a guy who can "win" on a handful of plays someone else could not.
I agree about Hunt. I've gone back and watched several games on Game Pass over the last couple of years. Like you I'm struck by the impact that Hunt had on the offense. There were several times where he really made teams pay for overplaying the pass game, or focusing too much on Kelce and Hill. We could really use an impact back like that again. I like our the guys we have, but none of them have been as able to make a consistent impact like Hunt.
I don't follow college ball so I haven't seen a lot of CEH other than what I've seen in the clips and highlights before and after the draft. I look forward to seeing what he can do in our offense, and I hope it opens up that other dimension that Hunt gave us.
Remember all the hand-wringing concerning the Chiefs "wasting" their first-round pick on a RB? It looks like a genius move now. Everything Veach touches turns to gold.
It will be really interesting to see if Osemele (pronunciation? LOL) wins the job at LG, as that would seem to provide further improvement to the Chiefs' ability to run the ball.

I think we all know where EB just moved in and why CEH is now having trouble sitting.

I do think that'll help. He's a solid run blocker, though he's not the athlete they generally have at the position.
