It was a great game for all of Chiefs Kingdom. I wish I could have enjoyed it during the game but I was too busy dealing with my emotions tilting wildly from elation during the great plays to crippling anxiety during the rest of the game.
I’ve been watching highlights for hours. There will be a lot for me to write about in Chiefs Chronicles this week. Welcome to The Chiefs Dynasty!
It's just unreal at this point and it's like 3 am right now where I'm at. One thing I'll add about it is if you've been a chiefs fan for long we've been through such a ringer for decades and the fact that we now have goats at TE, Head coach and of course at qb makes all that agony worth it. In the mahomes era I've never been more nervous watching games, because unlike eras past it was always a question of if they could pull it off and it was usually a big if. Now it's a totally different thing when we have the best shot to win. I'm so glad for mahomes and everyone that veach and reid have brought in with him
It has been so long since I cried because of a game and now I'm doing it again. Thank you for your work and being basically a friend to rely on our Chiefs fanhood.
I know they're not thought of the same way, but we need to add Butker to this list. He's been as important, and clutch, as any kicker in my memory(maybe Venaterri).
On a personal note: Thank you Seth! Your analysis this year has been fantastic! I've enjoyed your writing for years. I can't imagine you wanting to give up your day job, but I hope that enough people catch on, and join in, to make it possible for you to do this full time someday if you ever decide that's what you want to do with your time.
Everyone…If we want Seth to concentrate on “Hail to the Chiefs” full time…just decline the discount. Seriously, what we receive here isn’t worth $30/year?! 🤷
Fabulous! You will later analyze more of this game and have other posts. Even though those will undoubtedly be good, they won't match the emotion and the well delivered smack on the head making me realize that this is, without a doubt, the greatest 5 year run in the history of of the Super Bowl era.
Man, I feel so lucky to be a Chiefs fan. Lived through so many gut wrenching playoff losses, 2-14 seasons, and started out watching a great team deteriorate into an irrelevant one in the 70s and everything else, never knowing this Nirvana was waiting for me at the end.
I must admit, I thought the great run was over during their bad stretch in the regular season. Only to watch greatness again in the post season. Again, so lucky!
Best 5 year run in NFL history was when Tom Brady was 37 to 41 years old.
Patrick Mahomes is only 28 years old.
They said we couldn't do it after Patrick Mahomes rookie contract was over and we had to pay him yet we have, twice.
They said we couldn't do it without Tyreek Hill and we've won two without him.
What's even more amazing, something I don't believe Tom never had to deal with, We've won all 3 with completely different left and right offensive tackles each time.
Michael Jordan was 27 and 28 when he won the first two championships of his first three-peat. Mahomes is in the second leg of a three-peat opportunity at the same age, except he already won a championship before that. If the Chiefs can win another Super Bowl next year, Mahomes is going to be on the short list, not just of NFL champs, but champs in any sport in all of history.
He's already 5th in playoff touchdowns with 41. Just passed Peyton Manning's 40TDs and only needs 5 more to pass Joe Montana, Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers to move into 2nd place. 👀
It's funny to think that, in 2 different Super Bowls, there were 3 CTDs (Corndog Touchdown). The funnier thing is that they belong to Skyy Moore, KT, and Hardman... probably the 3 most unlikely. These are just a few of the funny and outright silly stats in what we have now...
A dynasty.
Lets continue to make this dynasty DY NASTY-ist dynasty ever.
Yeah, I'll stop now. That last one was reaching. The things a SB win makes a fan do. XD
I think Corndog motion works best for a WR manned up by a lesser cornerback. WR 3 has a great opportunity because he naturally gets less attention than Kelce, Rice, etc. This time, the defense keyed in on Kelce, and then also worked to stop Mahomes from running it in. This left Hardman open. Corndog probably doesn't work as well for our best receivers.
Man Seth who would have thought this just a mere 10 years ago? The 90's where an awesomely heartbreaking time to be a KC Chiefs fan (it was DT that made this Bama boy a fan but Montana gave me hope) but man this Chiefs team the last 6 years has been just awesomely awesome. Thanks for the write up! Imma finish crying now.
What a game!!! As you say they only play weird games. So happy to be a part of Chiefs kingdom💪😍
Thank you for everything you've done this year, Seth
Read this with just the goofiest grin on my face! What a game!!

You couldn't completely let go of hope, but also never really believed it was possible. That almost-contradiction sums up sports fandom so perfectly.
Thank you seth for everything! This was my most beautiful sport moment with my children in my life ! Unforgettable ! Go Chiefs !!!

Yeah also Winchester Bell (they have yet to lose a Super Bowl with him on the roster)

Dy-nasty. That's exactly how to summarize miami, buffalo, baltimore, and san fran to get to that pinnacle in the books. DYNASTY.!!

Lamar Hunt couldn't be more proud.

Yep. Brady did it longer and achieved more. But Mahomes is clearly, undeniably the best.

Huh, for Hardman TD I hear it called Tom and Jerry and then I hear it called a variation of Corndog. Confirms I don't know Ball. lol

CTD is my new favorite abbreviation.

Winning Back to Back is crazy special!!! Doing it at the home of the Raiders with John Elway having to carry out the trophy is icing on the cake.
why did Elway get (and accept) that assignment?
The ending and that photo just made me a little misty, not gonna lie. Thanks, Seth!
