There are a LOT of players I thought of saying here, but I think I'm most intrigued in Year 2 of the Toney experiment. Dude seems tailor-made for the system and has a ton of talent. Whether he remains healthy is the biggest obstacle for sure.
For me, it's Omenihu - I feel like this guy has untapped potential, and I'm really curious to see if he can blossom into something special under Spags and Joe Cullen's tutelage.
LOVE this answer as well. His snaps, especially in the interior, were really, really impressive as a pass rusher. He could be an absolute star next to Jones seeing a lot of 1x1 looks.
I think opening night against the Lions. They're a solid team that plays hard and very physical football. Other teams built similarly have been able to drag the Chiefs into rock fights that make it tough.
I think if he's healthy, he will be. That's always the "but" with him. I love his talent, and his ability to win in more ways than most relatively smaller receivers. His ball skills are terrific. But he's gotta figure out a way to stay healthy.
Hey Seth! Love you work and my mailbag question is: How many sacks do you think FAU had his first year and over the course of his rookie contract? Thanks and have a great week!
Thanks so much! I like FAU's skillset, but MAN it's hard to transition to the DL at the next level. I think you can expect 4-6 sacks from him his rookie season. I think over the course of all 5 years we get something like 40.
What do you think the chances are that the Chiefs let Sneed walk in FA next year? With all of the CBs they’ve drafter over the last two years, is it because they think he’ll be gone.
I think they just understand that you can never have too many good CB's considering that you're always going to have 4 that get significant playing time even without injuries.
I think (and I could be wrong here) that they view Sneed as a relatively foundational guy, but it may well depend on how this season goes. Let's say McDuffie, Watson, and Williams all take a step forward and one of the rookies does decently. It may not make sense to pay one guy big money.
I like Sneed a lot, so hopefully he sticks. But if there's one position they know they can grab guys at a discount, it's CB.
I don’t have a question but wanted to let you know how much I appreciate all of your work here, on Times Ours, and the other podcasts you do. Always looks forward to them
I'd keep a close eye on Karlaftis, McDuffie, and Moore. Karlaftis has a lower ceiling given that lack of bend, but he's been working really, really hard and has a great combination of athleticism and strength. McDuffie is already a stud, but might get more recognition this year.
And Moore... I just can't give up hope yet! I think his athleticism and ability to change direction well, along with his catch radius and ability to run through contact on routes, is something that will translate. He just needs to show he can make sight adjustments this year.
And absolutely, 100%, NEVER would've thought it would lead here. It's been an unbelievably cool journey that I'm thankful for every day. The number of people who have helped me learn and grow, as well as pointed me in certain directions professionally, is endless.
Given the moves that the Chiefs have made this year, I believe the pass rush has the potential to take a step forward this year. What will be the key indications on possible improvement for the preseason and early part of the season?
In preseason, I'd keep an eye on how FAU is fairing in individual matchups. Same with Karlaftis.
Preseason doesn't tell us much, but it CAN tell us what guys look like 1x1, which has value for pass rushers. Karlaftis was decent last year without being a guy who consistently wins 1x1, so him taking a step forward there would be huge. With FAU, it'll be all about whether he's able to win those edges from time to time.
Jones is a superstar, Omenihu is a very good interior rusher, and Karlaftis/Danna are both competent. Having another piece would be huge.
That's an easy one, IMO. Chris Jones extension would potentially free up (or at least clarify) some cap space for when they rework Mahomes' contract after Herbert and Burrow are extended.
I think the Jones extension is the most likely! Barring his ask being just out of the question, I think they want to keep him a Chief for the duration of his elite years.
If we're going well under the radar, I'd say Bryan Cook. I think he made strides last year and there's a reason KC was comfortable letting Thornhill walk, even though they're different sort of players.
Hmm... I'd say that one actually DID work, but I'll allow it. My favorite is the one with Kelce throwing a TD pass to Mahomes, but Kelce did the same thing with that as he did with his MLB first pitch.
Kelce can't help himself hahaha. Did you listen to the New Heights with Reid, and the one with Mahomes? They dive into why Kelce doesn't have the patience to be a QB, and it's awesome.
I prefer St. Paul, if only because I like how its downtown is set up better and we love the children's science museum!
What player not named Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, or Chris Jones are you most excited to watch this year?

I wholeheartedly concur. I was thinking either Toney or Skyy Moore

Which game for next season is going to be a sneaky difficult game?
I think opening night against the Lions. They're a solid team that plays hard and very physical football. Other teams built similarly have been able to drag the Chiefs into rock fights that make it tough.
To you think Toney will be receiver 1 this season and yes please add me to the list

I think that would be a great rookie year. And I’d love to see him have a 10 sack year during his rookie contract 🤞🏼. Thanks again, Seth!

Thanks so much, Gregg! I appreciate you listening and supporting!
I would like to win the football please. As for a question…if you and your podcast cohosts were VeggieTales, which veggies would you be?
Seth would OBVIOUSLY be Bob the Tomato should he spend any amount of time in the sun.
I actually tan gorgeously (thanks to my quarter Japanese heritage)! That said, I'm 100% Bob, and I accept this.
This is my anti-minnesota bias coming through. #Hawkeyes
hahahaha
I said Bob below, but I'm also wondering if Nate wouldn't be Bob... Josh as Larry... and I'm Mr. Lunt.
Given the age disparity, are we sure Josh isn't Jr. Asparagus?
He's all grown up now! Well, sorta.
Josh will never grow up. HE'S A TOYS R US KID!
oh no. I've aged myself haven't I?

I think the Skyy is the limit for him this year. And, I'm sorry for doing that. 😁
True or false, Kadarius Toney is a 1000 yard receiver next year if he’s healthy all season
I'd bet a great deal on that being true if I could guarantee his health.
Did you ever seriously consider you would be doing this back in "08-'09 when I can remember you sticking out on AP?
I appreciate you feeling like I stuck out!
And absolutely, 100%, NEVER would've thought it would lead here. It's been an unbelievably cool journey that I'm thankful for every day. The number of people who have helped me learn and grow, as well as pointed me in certain directions professionally, is endless.
I can't believe how lucky I am.

What is more likely this offseason...a Chris Jones extension, Frank Clark signing, or Carlos Dunlap signing? Thanks as always Seth. Get well soon

I think the Jones extension is the most likely! Barring his ask being just out of the question, I think they want to keep him a Chief for the duration of his elite years.
Which well under the radar player will have the biggest surprisingly good season?
If we're going well under the radar, I'd say Bryan Cook. I think he made strides last year and there's a reason KC was comfortable letting Thornhill walk, even though they're different sort of players.
Which rookie do you think will make the biggest impact this year?
I've bought the Rashee Rice Kool-Aid, so he's my guess right now. Though FAU was my favorite pick!
What’s your favorite Andy Reid play that didn’t work?
Snow Globe
Yeah but I would argue it "didn't work" in a very different way than Black Pearl (2020 regular season against TB) didn't work.
Why he would trust Kelce throwing the ball ever again is beyond me.
Right. He did the same thing with that as with his MLB first pitch. Turrible.
DANGIT someone already said Snow Globe, that's easily mine. I can't BELIEVE they took that from KC on a ghost holding call.
Hmm... I'd say that one actually DID work, but I'll allow it. My favorite is the one with Kelce throwing a TD pass to Mahomes, but Kelce did the same thing with that as he did with his MLB first pitch.
