The Chiefs' coach gets to enter the conversation as one of the best to ever do it, and he earned every bit of it against his former team. Even if he'll never take credit.
Also, I didn't say it in the article, and I'll be saying it a lot in the coming weeks... but thank you all so much for making this place what it is. I cannot WAIT to write about 20 film reviews for this game, and I'm so grateful to have found a group of people willing to support that sort of insanity!
I have a bad knee. It's my right knee. Kick me in it the next time I criticize Andy Reid. I love Andy Reid and will shut up the next time we don't blow out the donks!
A little birdie told me on the Times Our's podcast prior to the Superbowl that there is one thing that all the fans and talking heads are missing when it comes to determining the outcome of the Super Bowl. Between all the historical defensive stats, and Jalen Hurts rushing ability, and the OL and DL, and the pro bowlers, and even Chris Jones, Travis Kelce, and the great Patrick Mahomes...everybody forgot about Andy (and to a lesser extent Spagnuolo).
They just overlooked and/or underplayed the fact that Andy is a HOF playcaller and head coach, and Nick Sirianni, while good in his own right, is inexperienced and likely outmatched in that department. It's not a sexy take, but it was the absolute difference in the game.
It is, once again, a great day to be a Chiefs fan. 👍
Seth, thank you. Had me in tears on the last “Because that’s Andy.” Loved the article and the praise that Andy deserves. I look forward to the Ringer article you linked!
I think it's great that you're starting your post Super Bowl articles with this one on Andy Reid.
Funny, when I think about it, but Andy's been with the Chiefs for what now - 8 or 9 years? - and despite all the incredible success he's had in AFC championships and Super Bowls I honesty can't think of any articles I've ever read quite like your above review - about how good a coach he is but also about how good a man he is.
This article is a really nice, Seth. IMO one of your best. Thank you for starting your Super Bowl review with it.
Andy Reid was deep in his bag during this Superbowl. I thought SB54 was a testament to Mahomes's "Never say die" attitude, but tonight was a play calling masterpiece from Andy Reid and a testament to HIS greatness as an offensive genius
Grateful for Andy. I read an article once that talked about the chips that needed to fall in order for us to get him at the right time. Todd Haley making inexplicable decisions against the Jets, leading to his firing before the end of the season, leading to Crennell as head coach. Romeo defeating the undefeated Packers as interim, leading to him being coach the next year, and failing miserably. If that victory hadn't happened, or if first Haley didn't have that game, we might have gone on extensive coaching search before 2012, and not been ready to can that coach in favor of Reid in 2013. All those dominoes fell, and we changed the direction of the Franchise.
I am sure you will write many articles about the Super Bowl. Hopefully, one will be about the offensive line. I heard and read about the Eagles' dominant defensive line all week, but our O-line allowed zero sacks and we ran for over 6 yards per carry. (5.7 if you exclude Mahomes' runs) Definitely the unsung heroes of this victory.
So true, and so different from many other sites and blogs out there. I appreciate the mutual respect that is found here, it's in short supply these days.
Great point-- it was not possible to envision it at the time, but enduring the pain of those miserable years made this fantastic era possible. We had to get through that to get here.
Yet another great article, Seth! I've been a Chiefs fan since Super Bowl IV, which I remember watching as a kid. And yet, I read your articles and still learn about the game and team I've enjoyed for 52 years and counting. (Now from London, England - yes, your audience is global!) Here's a question - I think Tom Brady was the Kareem of the NFL, but Mahomes is now the MJ. Agree?
Creating one hell of an article super early in the morning right after his team wins the Super Bowl? Hard to imagine this 10+ years ago when, back then, the team was hardly able to muster up enough content for him to write about. Us true fans will stick with our team through thick and thin, and this writer will write about them for said fans. Do us fans deserve it? Sometimes, no. But do we appreciate it anyway? Always. Why?
Love, love, love this piece. What an amazing time to be a Chiefs fan. Just finished watching the 810 post game after watching an amazing game and still can't rest until I've read Seth's new article. I remember a time when I would watch these games and not have anyone to stay up with marveling in what the Chiefs had done that week and to have these outlets is a huge benefit to me imparticularly. I truly appreciate all the Chiefs content out there and can't wait to listen to the next Time's ours podcast. Love all of you for what you do and thank God there are Chiefs fans out there like me to gobble up all this content. Give Josh and Nate a big thanks from me too, till next time GO CHIEFS!!!!!!
Thank you for staying up late to write this. I enjoyed reading it as I’m still so jazzed about the win.
THEY DID IT COLLIN!!!!!!!
Much like you I was reflective this time... so this essay was exactly what I was looking for. Thanks, Seth!!

CHAMPS!!!!!!!!!
You're the champ man. Honestly, you've taught us so so so much and not only about football.
It's like you're a older friend or big brother that's always there to have fun, to show the way.
That one review of time's ours that said "it's like I'm in a group of friends talking crap and about the Chiefs", it's definitely what I feel.
As always, keep up the good work, I can't wait to read more and cry a bit more too.
Oh jeez I hear ya there. That video with Reid in the locker room made me tear up. What a fantastic human
Thank you, Seth.
And we can't wait to read those 20 film reviews!
I have a bad knee. It's my right knee. Kick me in it the next time I criticize Andy Reid. I love Andy Reid and will shut up the next time we don't blow out the donks!
Excellent work Seth
Excellent as always, Seth. Thank you.
Great piece as always, Seth. Thanks for everything you do!
Incredibly written article

This makes season #10 with Andy Reid as our head coach; 5 years with Alex starting; 5 years with Patrick starting.

Seth - you’re amazing. So talented, thanks for writing this…. What an amazing time.
By the way, this is my first post, but I want to thank all you regular posters.. The Comment section on Chief in the North is amazing, too!
Because we as a group are like you, Tim. We all reason together in a manner to share and have fun!
So true, and so different from many other sites and blogs out there. I appreciate the mutual respect that is found here, it's in short supply these days.
The best comment section anywhere

I forgot about that coaching sequence. Thx for reminding us!
