Let’s not pretend that Sunday’s game against the Chargers was a “real” game for the team itself. The stakes were as much on vacation as I am with the family right now.

With the Chiefs locked into the #3 seed in the playoffs no matter what happened, Kansas City had little to play for. The biggest plotline was Chris Jones making back some of the money he lost in his holdout by hitting 10+ sacks (seeing the team that happy for him was nice). The entire game had a preseason feel with multiple starters inactive and even more barely playing.

That said, even semi-fake football matters a great deal for individual players. And the Chiefs, as expected, utilized the game to take an extensive look at some young players, particularly on the defensive side of the ball, that haven’t seen much time on the field this year. Given that decision, and the overall vibe of the game, I thought it might be appropriate to give it the preseason treatment and just offer a few short thoughts on some of the players who saw playing time.

So let’s talk a little about Felix Anudike-Uzomah, B.J. Thompson, Neil Farrell, and Cam Jones, along with a few random thoughts on other guys sprinkled in, Preseason in January? Why not?!
