The quarterback deserves the accolades. But there's greatness everywhere in the Chiefs' win Sunday.

Oh, we’ll talk about Patrick Mahomes. BELIEVE me, we’ll talk about him.

Mahomes was an inevitable fire-breathing dragon against the Buffalo Bills. Or, as perhaps more aptly described by Andy Reid in his brief pep talk to Mahomes prior to coming onto the field with 13 seconds left (????!!!!), he is the bringer of doom for opposing teams.

The best quote from Andy Reid this season, this on Patrick Mahomes in the final 13 seconds in regulation: “When it’s grim, be the grim reaper.”

But a game like the one Mahomes just had deserves the full-fledged, every-angle, all-22 breakdown that we can only get once there’s, you know, all-22 available. So in the meantime, we need to talk about the other guys.

It’s a funny thing to refer to surefire Hall of Famers like Travis Kelce and Andy Reid, as well as an “on track to be a surefire Hall of Famer” like Tyreek Hill, as other guys. But that’s what happens to even the brightest of lights when they’re in the vicinity of the sun; They get drowned by the only light that seems to matter. And the glaring brilliance of Mahomes can make us miss all-time performances from other places. And those other places matter, because without them the Chiefs aren’t on their way to their 4th consecutive AFC Championship (have I mentioned lately it’s a good time to be a Chiefs fan?).

Let’s talk about each of them, starting with Hill, then talking about Reid, then closing with the greatest pass-catching tight end to ever put on a football helmet.

Tyreek Hill: The anomaly

There’s never been an athlete quite like Tyreek Hill in the NFL. Now, there are guys who, in some ways, are his equal as an overall athlete (guys whose names you know, like Moss and Bo). But there’s never been someone like HIM.

You don’t have to believe me. You really don’t. You can just turn on the television and watch him sometime. Every single game, Hill will make a play that no one else in the league can make. Often, this comes on a quick pass where he manages to gain 10 yards where no one else could gain 5. In those moments, you have to be watching for it. But other moments, his utter uniqueness reaches out from the screen and grabs you.
