Preseason final thoughts: Omenihu belongs inside, FAU's pass rush, WR choices, and more
Looking at a few of the things I think we've learned (and haven't learned) in preseason, as well as with the final(ish) Chiefs roster
Well, all that’s left now is for actual football to start.
It’s been an eventful preseason, and we’ve talked a great deal about the film of players on both offense and defense. But now the roster has been set and the real games begin (well, on September 7th, but you get it). The Chris Jones countdown continues, but with or without him, the season is about to start.
With that in mind, I thought it would be useful to talk about a few of the things I think we’ve learned this preseason, as well as with the roster decisions made by Brett Veach and Andy Reid. I’d also like to talk abuot some questions we still have. These will range from film observations (Omenihu, FAU, the young WR’s) to general discussions on where the Chiefs’ roster stands now that they’ve made the (semi) final decisions as to who stays and who goes.
Some of it will be fun.
Some of it will be less fun. But that doesn’t make it any less important.
While preseason film is hardly dispositive, it does tell us a fair amount about individual player skillsets, especially guys we haven’t seen go up against pros before. And while the roster itself is going to see some ebbs and flows, Reid and company made some pretty clear decisions regarding who they have committed to as a team. But at the same time, we’ve got a considerable number of questions as to how some of those guys are going to be utilized.
This weekend and next week, we’ll start talking about the things I’m looking for in Week 1. And then… We’ll have brand new, shiny film to watch! But for now, let’s talk about some things I think I know following Kansas City’s preseason.
