Expectations, predictions, over/unders, and the 2022 Kansas City Chiefs

What are reasonable expectations for the Chiefs this season? What are the possibilities? Let's talk expectations, make some predictions, and even talk some lines with the season nearly upon us.

We’re only a few days away now.

The Chiefs kick off their season on Sunday afternoon against the Arizona Cardinals. That means the time for speculation, predictions, and discussion of expectations will end. It’ll be instead a time for analyzing, reviewing, and discussing realities of what actually is occurring. We’ll have new film to review every week, and not much time to talk about hypotheticals and what-ifs until the season is over.

Which means that NOW is the time to finish up all that speculation and prediction talk. And I haven’t done nearly enough of it until now, only just recently dipping my toe into what I think are the biggest X-factors for Kansas City in 2022.

We know Patrick Mahomes is the most important factor in the Chiefs contending. But he's not the only one. I wrote about the four X-factors I think have the best chance of swinging things for or against KC in the upcoming season.

But of course, there is a LOT more to talk about in terms of what may occur this season, and not much time left to do it.

The season for speculation is almost over. So let’s have fun with it while we can, starting with some reasonable expectations (what I think is likely to occur) and then moving our way to more bold predictions (what I think is a possibility to occur) and finishing off with where I think some of the over/under lines regarding the Chiefs will end up (new territory for me that I found absurdly fun).

Let’s prognosticate, shall we?
